Like the traditional symphony orchestra, HVGO is an instrument unto itself for which composers can create new repertoire.
To this end, Peter has specifically developed arrangements of both significant contemporary and legacy composers to exploit the unique tonal characteristics of the ensemble and the musical strengths of its members. |
Peter Blanchette founded HVGO in the winter of 2008 as a new kind of orchestra comprised of enthusiastic, local, acoustic and electric guitarists from widely varied musical traditions. HVGO creates new music that could only come from such an eclectic mélange, provides an opportunity for musicians to expand their artistic horizons with an orchestra experience, and strengthens community by bringing artists together who might otherwise never collaborate.
